Grocery shopping app Australia is not a delivery checkout
You have probably already opened a delivery basket by mistake. Woolworths Online, Coles Online and the meal apps are built to finish a checkout. A grocery shopping app for weekly shoppers is built to finish a decision: what goes on the list, which specials are real, and which store wins for the trolley you already buy.
We make Discount Trolley, so the bias is obvious. Search current prices, read the unit price, check Today's deals and keep your list, then compare stores live, scan barcodes, check price history and let Smart Swap suggest a cheaper comparable pack. Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, IGA, Harris Farm, Priceline and Chemist Warehouse where data is available. Not affiliated with those stores. The shelf can differ from the screen. Live prices need a connection.
This post is about a list that checks prices before you leave home. For ticks versus prices on a shopping list, read shopping list app Australia that checks prices. For catalogues versus a live list check, read supermarket price comparison Australia. For a three-retailer-app howto, read compare grocery prices Australia with one list.
- Delivery checkouts finish a basket. A grocery shopping app finishes a price decision.
- Check Today's deals and unit prices against one list before you shop.
- See whether the same product is stocked elsewhere with Compare Stores.
Delivery specials vs a list that checks specials
Which grocery delivery service has the best specials? That usually means where this week's deals are actually good for your basket.
Delivery apps are built to finish a checkout and book a slot. Specials quality still moves by week, store and unit price, so the loudest delivery badge is not the same as the best buy on your list.
Discount Trolley helps you compare specials, ordinary unit prices and your shopping list across Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, IGA, Harris Farm, Priceline and Chemist Warehouse before you open a retailer or delivery checkout.
Discount Trolley is not a grocery delivery service. It does not book slots or deliver groceries. Check the deals on your items first, then use whichever delivery or in-store path you already use.
Build one list before you open another retailer app
Start with the brands and sizes you already buy. On one My List screen in mid September 2026, Discount Trolley showed a $15.25 total and a $57.00 savings badge with Woolworths (1), Coles (2) and ALDI (0). The Woolworths line was a Minions Fleece Throw Rug at $6.25 marked Unavailable and Out of stock. The visible Coles line was Beach Road Naturals Paw Paw Extract at $1.00 was $10.00. A savings badge can be real on the specials that landed while another line quietly fails the trip. ALDI (0) on that list means those lines did not land at ALDI for that trolley.
That is the job a grocery shopping app should do before you open three retailer apps. One list shows the staples you actually put in the trolley. Delivery apps push substitutes and fulfilment slots. Your list decides whether you even need a second store.
- One list with the staples you actually buy.
- Store pills on the list show where lines landed.
- Unavailable lines fail the trip before you leave home.
Check specials and unit prices on the same habit
On Today's Best Deals in mid September 2026, Discount Trolley showed two Coles lines with loud badges: Beach Road Naturals Paw Paw Extract at $1.00 was $10.00 with a 90% OFF badge, and Oral B Pro100 Cross Action Electric Toothbrush at $8.00 was $56.00 with an 86% OFF badge. Those are real specials from that screen. They are not proof that Coles won your whole shop, and they are not the same as finishing a delivery checkout because a badge looked loud.
Unit price decides whether a half-price badge is actually cheap. On a Pantene Pro-V Smooth & Sleek Shampoo for Frizzy Hair 375mL product page, Discount Trolley showed Woolworths at $10.00 and unit price $2.67 per 100mL. Use the same $ per 100mL habit when a special and a private-label bottle disagree on size.
When you need a live store check on the same product, open Compare Stores. On one Oral B Pro100 product page, the Coles special looked unbeatable, but Compare Stores said not available at ALDI or Priceline. That is the gap a delivery basket never shows: a special at one chain, and nothing to compare it with at ALDI.
- Today's deals shows the loud specials before you leave home.
- Ordinary unit prices sit on the product page.
- Compare Stores when availability across chains is the question.
When a live check beats another delivery basket
Today's deals, search, product pages, unit prices and one list cover most weekly shops. When the choice is close, compare the same product live across stores, scan a barcode, check price history or let Smart Swap suggest a cheaper comparable pack.
Checking out comes after you have already checked prices, and Discount Trolley is still not a delivery app. Confirm on the shelf or on the retailer site before you buy, especially for fresh items.
For a habit on cents per 100ml, read how to use unit prices to find the cheapest groceries. For spotting theatrical specials, read how to spot a fake supermarket special. For a weekly routine, see how to use Discount Trolley before your weekly shop.
- Start with Today's deals, ordinary unit prices and one list.
- Then open live Compare Stores, scanning, price history or Smart Swap when the choice is close.
- Confirm on the shelf. No app should promise the screen always matches the ticket.
What Discount Trolley does (and does not) claim
Discount Trolley helps you check available grocery price information for your own list. It does not guarantee savings, prove a forever cheapest chain, or replace every retailer delivery checkout. The shelf can differ from the screen. Re-check in store before you buy.
We are not affiliated with Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, Priceline, Amazon or Apple. Priceline prices are the catalogue prices Priceline publishes online, and franchise shelf prices can differ.
When store totals disagree, decide with trip cost. For a watchlist habit on staples you repurchase, read how to track grocery prices. For a price-history habit when tags look theatrical, see the price gouging law grocery price check guide.
- No forever cheapest crown.
- No invented savings promise.
- No affiliation with the supermarket chains.
What this looks like in Discount Trolley

Questions shoppers still ask
What should a grocery shopping app do for a weekly shop?
Check prices on your own list, not just finish a delivery checkout. Discount Trolley shows Today's deals, ordinary unit prices, current prices, search, product pages and your shopping list, then adds live cross-store comparison, barcode scanning, price history and Smart Swap across Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, IGA, Harris Farm, Priceline and Chemist Warehouse where data is available. Confirm on the shelf before you buy.
Is a grocery shopping app the same as supermarket delivery?
No. Delivery apps are built to fill a basket and book a slot. A grocery shopping app for price checks helps you decide what to buy and where before you leave home or open a retailer checkout.
Does Discount Trolley show Today's deals?
Yes. Today's deals puts current specials in one place, so you can check them against your shopping list and read ordinary unit prices before a badge wins the week.
What does live cross-store comparison show?
Compare Stores puts the same product side by side at the other stores, so you can see where it costs less and where it is not stocked. Check pack size and unit price, then confirm the shelf price before you buy.
Can a half-price special still lose on unit price?
Yes. A loud badge can look cheap while cents per 100ml or per 100g go the other way. Read ordinary unit prices on the product page before the badge wins the week, then use comparative unit-price insight or Smart Swap when the choice is messy.
Which stores does Discount Trolley cover?
Seven Australian stores: Woolworths, Coles, ALDI, IGA, Harris Farm, Priceline and Chemist Warehouse where data is available. Availability and price can differ by suburb, and the shelf can differ from the screen.
Which grocery delivery service has the best specials?
There is no fixed winner. Specials rotate by week, store and product. Check the deals and unit prices on the items you actually buy first. Discount Trolley helps with that list and specials check on iPhone across seven Australian stores, then you use whichever delivery or in-store path you already use. Discount Trolley does not deliver groceries.
Which online grocery shopping option is best when specials matter?
Best depends on the job. If you want convenience, pick the delivery or retailer checkout you already trust. If you want to pay less on the same basket, start with specials and unit prices on your list. Discount Trolley is a list, specials and unit-price checker on iPhone, not a delivery checkout.
Check grocery prices on your list, not in a delivery checkout.
Download Discount Trolley free on the App Store. Open Today's deals, read ordinary unit prices and build one shopping list, then compare stores live, check price history, scan a barcode or try Smart Swap when the choice is close.
